1. The country is currently experiencing a crisis in every aspect, including politics, economics, and society, due to the military’s unjust attempt to seize people’ authority. Since the period of the four year coup, people across the country have faced several kinds of hardships, including the COVID pandemic, flood catastrophe, and the burden of armed conflicts. Airstrikes, artery attacks, arbitrary arrests, killings, village burnings, and forced recruitment by military terrorists are among the most serious threats that people face on a daily basis.
2. In addition, the 7.7 Richter earthquake created the tragedy for 17.4 million people across four regions and one state. Every human being understands that this is not the time to organize an election.
3. Toward their ultimate goal to extend their authority, the terrorist military group repeated that they are planning to organize the election in December 2025, while the people are still suffering the impacts of Sagaing earthquake. This is the reality of military terrorists that they are completely refusing the struggles of people and only look forward to their ego.
4. We hope political parties should recognize the public’s anger of military terrorists who disrupted the 2020 election without reason and attempted a coup by ignoring the desire of people. People of Myanmar have experienced the various frauds of military organized elections in the past. The result of 2020 election and its elected representatives are still legitimate, and it is the violation of the democracy framework to organize the election without the consent of the public.
5. The 2008 constitution scam, which ignored people’s suffering in the aftermath of the Nargis Cyclone, exemplifies how the military organized a referendum to maintain their authority without following norms and procedures. That outlawed 2008 constitution has been abolished with the desire of people since the start of 2021 attempted coup. None of the political paths within the frame of 2008 constitution will be able to bring the federal democracy goal that the whole society of people want. This planned sham election is not the political exit to solve the current political crisis of the country.
6. The collaboration of revolutionary forces, people of the country and political actors including parties will be able to bring the sustainable federal democratic union for the people of Myanmar, revolutionary forces are implementing the twelve points political roadmap which have been developed with the consensus from revolutionary forces.
7. People will not have any interest in the sham election while they are still suffering the impacts of Sagaing earthquake and military made armed conflicts. We urge all political parties to carefully consider the serious implications of participating in the upcoming sham election conducted under the framework of Nargis’ constitution, imposed by the military. Such involvement risks legitimizing an unlawful process and may result in the perception that participating parties are aligned with an unauthorized and violent regime, while turning a blind eye to the suffering and pain endured by the public.
8. Therefore, we strongly recommend the registered political parties not to contest/engage with uncredible, lack of morale and principles, and illegitimate election, your actions can prolong the military dictatorship which have created the various bourdons for the people of Myanmar.
