Throughout August 2026, the military junta systematically committed widespread war crimes against civilians across Myanmar, with a total of 528 human rights violation cases documented.
These violations encompassed extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and property destruction, with Mandalay Region suffering the highest number of abuses at 110 cases.
Massacres perpetrated by the military junta occurred 8 times across 4 regions, resulting in 68 civilian fatalities, including 7 children under the age of 18.
Furthermore, intensive aerial attacks were carried out across 13 regions with 530 strikes recorded, leaving Sagaing Region as the most heavily targeted. These airstrikes resulted in 139 civilian fatalities, including 18 children.
The aerial bombardments also destroyed 126 civilian homes, 17 religious buildings, 10 schools, and 4 medical facilities.
The National Unity Government remains steadfast in its commitment to equality, peace, and justice. By systematically documenting evidence of the junta’s war crimes, we will do our utmost to ensure perpetrators are held accountable and brought to justice.
